Calibrate FastTrek for reliable Rift Navigation in the Mirror Universe
Use FastTrek to automate grinding and mining in the Mirror Universe, without spending manual time on navigating rifts.
Special settings are required to make sure your ship gets to the right place and recalls safely afterwards.
Timed Recall
Time in the Mirror Universe is limited depending on your District 56 building. The base duration is 20 minutes, but the building can be upgraded to give you up to 50% more time, for a maximum of 30 minutes. When the time expired, the ship is teleported back to one of the entrance systems.
When setting up your Hostile Hunt or Mining automation for the Mirror Universe, you must set the “Recall after a certain time” option to the exact time you are allowed there.
This will ensure that FastTrek begins timing as it enters, and that the ship recalls shortly after dropping out.
Hostile Types
I strongly recommend against using any “Hostile Type” filters for Mirror Universe grinding. If you must use a filter, it is best to select Surveys in addition to any others.
Due to current limitations and possible timing inaccuracies, FastTrek may want to hit one more hostile in the exit system before its recall is triggered. They are all surveys, so this would be impossible if it wasn’t allowed to hit them, and the ship might get stuck as a result.
Rift Navigation
FastTrek relies on accurate keyboard calibration to navigate rifts in the Mirror Universe.
Instead of searching for specific rift labels in a particular language, FastTrek contains an accurate map of rift locations. It finds them by panning the screen by a certain amount and looking for the rifts’ visual features according to location and type.
Watch FastTrek navigate through the Mirror Universe Rifts and begin to grind.
Note: This recording is from an older version of FastTrek, but it gives you a good idea of how the bot works. The current version has an expanded user interface and can use Kir’Shara for queuing.
Keyboard Calibration
If you find that FastTrek is not reliably finding rifts in the Mirror Universe, gets stuck in places like Mirror Axanar, or takes a wrong turn, you may need to calibrate keyboard pan.
This setting tells FastTrek how long it should hold down the ‘D’ key in order to move the system view from left to right. This seems to depend on various factors including, but not limited to, keyboard stroke repeat rate, graphics settings, machine performance.
See here for full instructions.
Stuck at Axanar > Nausicaa
What should happen:
- The ship arrives on the left hand side of the system.
- The view pans right, roughly until the star is in the centre of the screen.
- The view immediately pans up all the way, putting the rift to Mirror Nausicaa in the top centre of the screen.
- The rift icon (round shield with sword through it) is visible above the rift.
What happens instead:
- The ship can’t find the rift to Mirror Nausicaa.
- FastTrek repeatedly pans right, then up, but never enough.
- The pan to the right never reaches the star, panning up happens way off-centre.
What to do:
- Observe how far the view moves to the right.
- If it goes about halfway to the star, try doubling the pan time in the settings.
Going to Romii instead of Breen
This is likely an insufficient pan, where the rift to Romii is in view but the rift to Breen is not, despite being right next to it.
What to do:
Increase the pan time slightly.
Going to Breen instead of Romii
This is likely an excessive pan, where the view was moved just beyond the rift to Romii.
What to do:
Decrease the pan time slightly.
Going to Rada Ban instead of Vulcan
To get to Mirror Vulcan, the ship is expected to travel through Mirror Doloran.
Going to Rada Ban at all indicates a wrong turn at Tau Ceti.
What to do:
Adjust the pan time based on observation in Tau Ceti.
