Grinding Basics
Passive Grind - FastTrek Docs
Get more out of your auto grind by having your ship repair and go back automatically.
“Passive Grind” mode has been available since version 1.4.0 of the FastTrek Bot for Star Trek® Fleet Command.
When you auto-grind in certain systems, your ship will eventually be destroyed by the chasers.
With the FastTrek bot for STFC you can have the ship repair automatically and be sent back to continue gaining XP. This allows you to sit in higher level systems to make your passive grind more efficient.
When and Where do Chasers Attack?
There are some systems where you will be targeted by hostile “chasers” or “revenge hostiles” as soon as your ship enters. This includes:
| Where | Chasers |
|---|---|
| Augment (Data) Systems | Bounty Hunters, once you reach a certain reputation with the Augment faction |
| Augment Exiles | Hijacked D7 |
| FKR Systems | Fighters/War Coalitions, etc, in higher level faction systems, or when you have “Enemy” reputation (below -500) with the respective faction |
| Texas Systems | Texas Class Sentries will attack your Monaveen |
| Transogen | Suliban |
It is common for players to park their ships in one of these systems, which results in being attacked about once a minute, and the ship will gain Ship XP and loot automatically. You won’t need to actively click anywhere, hence Passive Grind.
It’s a great way to level up ships that require millions of XP. The Feesha and Titan are prime examples.
With Passive Grind, FastTrek takes care of repairing your ship and returning to the grind automatically. It can recall when full or OPC, as well as detecting when another player destroys (hijacks) your revenge hostile.
Setting Up Passive Grind
- Crew your ship of choice.
- Select the Ship Tab for the ship you want to configure.
- Select “Passive Grind” from the list of available automation types.
- Configure the automation.
- Start the automation, or “start paused” if you have more ships to set up.

Hijack Detection
If enabled and the ship does not see a battle for a certain amount of time, FastTrek will assume that the revenge hostile has been hijacked by another player. In that case, it will recall the ship, stop it one system over, and send it straight back to trigger a new revenge hostile.
