Automatic Restarts - FastTrek Docs
FastTrek can restart STFC automatically when it misbehaves.
The main purpose of automatic restarts is to help FastTrek continue running smoothly. Star Trek® Fleet Command needs to be running smoothly to be able to do that!
Why Automatic Restarts?
STFC is a buggy game and can get into weird states easily and frequently.
Although some bugs have workarounds, several can only be resolved by restarting the game.
Restart Options
Stuck on ‘Preparing’
Restart STFC if it sits on a ‘Preparing’ or loading screen for more than a minute.
‘Attention, failed to login’
Restart STFC if it detects a login failure screen or similar error.
Unrecognised screen
Restart STFC if it sits on any unrecognised screen.
Ship stuck in Warp
Restart STFC if it detects a ship stuck in warp.
To avoid false positives, the maximum expected warp time should be configured in Settings > Ship Behaviour > Maximum Expected Warp Time.
Non-responsive
Occasionally the game will stop responding to FastTrek’s input. At the moment this only detects the case when a ‘done’ screen cannot be dismissed.
On schedule
Restart the game at regular intervals, “just in case”. This can help to prevent or resolve various issues not explicitly detected by the other options.
The scheduled restart option is designed to be non-disruptive: It will not interrupt a refinery collection or Mirror Universe run.
