Game - FastTrek Docs
Choose how large the game draws its interface, and save window sizes and positions you can switch between from the Start tab.
The Game tab in Settings controls the game window itself: how big its interface is drawn, and the sizes and positions you want to switch between quickly.
UI scale
How large the game draws its interface. FastTrek works the same at every scale, so choose what is comfortable to read on your screen.
| UI scale | Size |
|---|---|
| 0.75 | Default |
| 1.5 | 2x |
| 2.25 | 3x |
| 3.0 | 4x |
Pick a scale and click Apply. The tab shows the scale the game is currently running at.
- Changing the UI scale restarts the game. FastTrek asks first, and pauses automations while the game restarts.
- If the game isn’t running, the new scale is used the next time it starts with the Community Mod.
- Scales above 0.75 need the Community Mod.
A larger scale is most useful on 4K monitors and Retina displays, where the default interface can be too small to read comfortably. The Setup Wizard picks a scale that suits your screen when it installs the mod. You can change it here at any time.
Size & Positioning
These layouts are offered by the Resize menu on the Start tab, so you can quickly switch the game between sizes you use often. Choose a layout from the menu and the game window is resized (and moved, if the layout says so) straight away. Manage at the bottom of the menu opens this tab.
Built-in layouts
The built-in layouts are listed at the bottom and cannot be changed.
Reference size
Resizes the game to 1666 x 724, the size FastTrek was originally developed at. This gives the best compatibility, so try it first if FastTrek has trouble recognising something.
Last Ship/Dock detection
The size the game had when you last ran Ship Detection. Only shown once you have run a detection. Use it to get back to the size your dock positions were measured at, for example after closing side chat.
Full Screen
Fills the screen without covering the taskbar or dock, and without entering fullscreen mode.
Your own layouts
Click the + button (Add a layout) to create one, then set:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | A name you choose for what the Resize menu shows. |
| Width, Height | The size of the game window. |
| Restore position | Also move the window. When ticked, choose the Display and the X / Y position on it. |
Current fills in the size and position the game window has right now. They should already be pre-filled when you click Add a layout, and it’s the easiest way to save a layout: arrange the game how you like it, then click Current to update.
Use the arrow buttons (Move up / Move down) to put your favourites at the top of the menu, Apply to try the selected layout straight away, and the bin button to remove a layout.
A layout that can’t be used right now is still listed in the Resize menu, greyed out, with the reason:
- The game needs at least 800 x 600.
- Heights above 1024 need the Community Mod. See Game window size and scaling.
- The layout is larger than every connected display.
