Ditching Faction Scout Hunt

Faction Scouts have long been a source of FKR faction messages and thus Faction Credits.

So inevitably people ask: “Why doesn’t FastTrek have a dedicated scout hunting mode?”

My reply: “I have never hunted faction scouts and never will.”
Outrageous? No, and I’ll explain why:

USS Voyager gives thousands of messages with one single kill.

Yes, you read that right.

The first system is Shal’ika. You need Delta Quadrant Borg Coordinates to travel there in the first place, which I don’t quite remember how to get. It’s either from either mining and then refining Anomaly samples (which you can also do with FastTrek of course), or by refining the Species 8472 stuff that you get from summoning Bioships in the ‘normal’ Hirogen Elite systems. Maybe it’s from killing Hirogen Elites? Maybe I’d be more clued up if I wasn’t automating all of it….
You’ll recognise the other such systems by also needing these Borg Coordinates.

Crew choices:
Neelix to reduce the cost of summoning. You could run Janeway, Doctor, Neelix, if you have them. Put Byrch, possibly Tucker (not sure if he works here), and other loot crew below deck.
Also can use 5/11 on the bridge if you can kill them easily, and consider the likes of Ent-E Picard + Synergy (E-Data?) + 5/11 if the loot bonus outweighs Neelix’s summoning efficiency and you still kill them easily. That frees up the doctor, so he can also go below for even more 😉

Once in that system just summon and the ship that appears will be a borg hostile carrying 100s if not 1000s of messages from random faction(s). They go straight to your inventory, so the ship doesn’t even fill up. So there is no need to use Tuvok or other cargo space enhancing crew on the Voyager.

I’d suggest doing a manual run, so you can see exactly what you’re getting and the mechanics, then go auto by all means 🙂
If you’re using the Bioship mode for the first time, I’d also suggest configuring the cooldown first (Settings > Ship Behaviour), then double check how many summons you can make with the crew you have configured, and whether it would be sensible to repeat as well (each entry costs 100 Borg Coordinates, so check what you have there as well).

If you get the chance to wait for incursions and use the 100% loot bonus exo… wow, you’ll be swimming in the stuff 😀
Which reminds me that I really need to run a session myself. Haven’t done it for a few months now!
