Setting up FastTrek

Let’s go through FastTrek installation and getting it to work with Star Trek Fleet Command.

01

Download FastTrek

Presumably you already have – go to the download page and select your platform. For MacOS please follow the Mac install instructions, then come back here for step 03.

02

Run the Installer

(Windows only)
The installer will download everything necessary to install FastTrek itself. Follow through each step.
Start the game before you run FastTrek.

03

Activate FastTrek

If you haven’t already done so, please join here by selecting “Start Trial”. You’ll automatically receive an activation code, which you enter together with the same email address you used to register.

If the ‘welcome’ email doesn’t arrive within a few minutes, please check in junk/spam, then use the ‘Lost/not received’ link to send me an email, so that I can send it manually.

04

Setup Wizard

With the game running, launch FastTrek. The first time it starts, it will open the Setup and Troubleshooting wizard. The wizard runs through common initial configuration steps, such as making sure the game runs in windowed mode.

Position FastTrek and the wizard so that they do not overlap the game. If this isn’t possible, move them so that the docks and system/galaxy buttons remain clear.

If the wizard detects an issue, it may offer an automatic or manual solution (you might need to scroll down). Follow through the guidance to configure the game to work optimally with FastTrek.

If a step fails, it can sometimes help to simply restart the wizard. If you get stuck and a step fails repeatedly, please email at any time.

The last step in the wizard is Ship Detection, which is described in the next step. Click ‘Apply Solution’ to get there.

05

Ship Detection

Unlike some other bots, FastTrek does not mandate a particular game window size or resolution. But this means that the positioning of HUD elements on the screen can vary significantly.
Ship detection accurately determines where each of your docks is located on screen, which ensures accurate ship status detection.
If this goes out of sync, FastTrek may take incorrect actions or not move ships at all.

Remember to run ship detection again if you either:
– Acquire another dock; or:
– Change the width of the window; or:
– Play with side-chat open.
