Let’s configure Star Trek Fleet Command to make sure that FastTrek runs as smoothly as possible. Normally the setup wizard should do this automatically, but here are the 3-4 small changes you may need to manually make to the STFC configuration.
- Set Windowed Mode
- Enable Extended Zoom
- Disable Mission Reminders on Login (interferes with automatic restarts)
- Game Resolution / Window sizing

Disable Mission Reminders on Login
We want this one to be off. FastTrek can restart your game regularly or if it gets stuck due to bugs. But it doesn’t deal with mission dialogue (yet), so this should be disabled.

Game Resolution / Window sizing
FastTrek supports pretty much any size of game window, with the following limitations:
Due to HUD scaling any vertical height over 1024 pixels requires the Community Mod. This includes HiDPI/Retina screens where the resolution is actually double of what is listed.
If you’re troubleshooting, an easy way to eliminate display scaling from the equation and adjust resolution is to launch “Setup” in FastTrek and click “Resize it for me”. This will use the same game window size as I use during development, so everything should work exactly as it should.
Make sure all is visible
Finally, especially on smaller screens, please ensure that the entirety of the game window is visible, in particular the lowest part with the docks. FastTrek needs to be able to ‘see’ them to figure out what each ship is doing. That includes making sure that FastTrek itself isn’t inadvertently covering part of the game!
FastTrek will show a warning if it overlaps with the game.
